Bridging generations by restoring lost history
Korea Archives is a digital humanities initiative dedicated to preserving and revitalizing the cultural heritage of Korea through the voices of its people. We bridge generational divides by capturing the stories of lost things—fading dialects, forgotten folktales, ancient customs, traditional holidays, and vital rites of passage.
Through recorded interviews, collaborative translations, and shared memories, Korea Archives serves as a living repository that honors the past, empowers the youth, and keeps our cultural heartbeat alive for future generations
Words that no longer have mouths to speak them.
An archive of endangered Korean words, dialects, and expressions — gathered from elders, recorded before they vanish. Each entry carries its last known speaker, its meaning, and the silence it leaves behind.
Translated by grandparents. Carried by grandchildren.
Stories passed down through generations — harvest festivals, ancestral rites, the customs of Chuseok and Seollal. Recorded in the voices of those who lived them, translated by the hands that still remember.
Two generations. One conversation.
The heart of this archive. Grandparents and grandchildren sit together — one remembering, one learning. These interviews are acts of love, recorded so that nothing is lost between the telling and the hearing.
Your story belongs here
This archive grows with every family who contributes. Share a word your grandmother used. Record a folktale. Submit a photograph. Every memory added is a thread woven back into the fabric of what we are.
